Andrew Hislop receives rave review in Macbeth
Andrew Hislop has received fantastic reviews in his performance within Merely Theatre’s version of Macbeth. Check out what was said about Andrew from Mind The Blog:
“It also does an excellent job with the Porter scene – part of the play that I’ve not really understood the point of until this year, thanks also to the National Theatre and RSC versions. For the most part, Merely’s production is quite serious & dramatic, so this scene provides a comic break in proceedings, which really plays to the company’s strengths. Andrew Hislop takes on this role with great assertiveness (you try controlling an audience that’s almost entirely made up of teenagers on a school trip!) and is terrific entertainment value.”

Well done Andrew, keep up the amazing work!

Maddie Wakeling cast in Small Histories
RD North’s Maddie Wakeling has been cast in the recently announced production of Small Histories by Out of Kilter Theatre.
The work is about six generations of women; their lives spanning 100 years from the final months of World War One to the present; and – through a weaving together of monologue, dialogue and songs – we are given glimpses into brief episodes of these women’s lives; episodes of joy, sorrow, love, loss and memory that articulate the ‘small histories’ of ordinary people.
A ‘scratch performance’ of the work is to take place at Touchstones, Rochdale on 16th November, 2018 at 7:30pm.
Well done Maddie, this is great news! Break a leg!

5 Star Review for Andrew Hislop in Much Ado About Nothing
Thats right, the Merely Theatre and Andrew Hislop have received 5 Star Reviews for their touring show Much Ado About Nothing.
Check out some of the quotes from Please Mind The Blog:
“Andrew Hislop is an authoritative, but kindly, Leonato”
“My verdict? A comic triumph that welcomes everyone to Messina, with some fun musical choices amongst the Shakespeare – the performances from the cast of six are vibrant & full of energy.
Rating: 5*”
“This production is another comic triumph for Merely Theatre. Intent on ensuring the audience feels included, the cast acknowledge our presence by addressing their speech in our direction, or even incorporating individuals in small ways by making them part of the Prince’s Watch. Under Abigail Anderson’s direction, everyone is there in Messina for a couple of hours ”
