Ruth’s TV appearances include being featured in Sainsbury’s Live Well campaign and making it to the Battle Rounds of The Voice UK, 2017.
A singer and actress from Sheffield South Yorkshire, Ruth has been involved in music and theatre since childhood and began her music studies at age 4, studying Piano and Classical Singing. Trained in Musical Theatre singing to a Grade 8 level, Ruth graduated from Salford University with a First Class Honours Degree in Music specialising in Classical Vocal Performance and Arranging. Ruth also studied Musical Theatre for two years at Rotherham College of Arts and Technology where she played a number of roles including Julie Jordan in Carousel and also furthered her studies into Makeup for Stage and Screen where she gained experience using special effects makeup and prosthetics. She continues to train along side work and auditions, studying Estill Technique, attending tap and ballet classes and Acting for Camera classes.
A winner of the School Of Arts and Media’s Arranging Award, for the highest mark in musical arranging, Ruth was also the vocal captain/assistant MD for the university theatre society as well as playing roles in their productions, West Side Story and Spring Awakening. Whilst training, Ruth was involved in many amateur and semi professional productions in Yorkshire in which she performed at the Sheffield Lyceum and Theatre Royal Wakefield.
Ruth’s Performing Arts college had a strong affiliation with Sheffield Theatres. Taking full advantage, Ruth worked with various practitioners, as well as working with Daniel Evans, Artistic Director for Sheffield Theatres, in a workshop for Stephen Sondheim's COMPANY. Ruth graduated from Salford University with a First Class Honours Degree in Music specialising in Classical Vocal Performance and Arranging.
In her spare time, Ruth arranges and composes music, vocal coaches and teaches music theory along with introduction to keyboard skills. She is artistic and enjoys painting and sketching as well as doing stage and hair makeup when the opportunity arises. She is also involved in fund raising for various charities such as SAFE@LAST, Guide Dogs For The Blind and The National Autistic Society, performing at charity concerts.
